‘Be the Snail’

The other day, I was scrolling through the Internet looking for an image to post to my Facebook page that showed some sort of “Zen.” And low and behold, a SNAIL popped up! At first I found it to be very odd that a SNAIL could be am image for ZEN. But then it dawned on me … we should all be a SNAIL once in a blue moon!

But why?

You see, snails are never in a hurry. They travel at their own pace, at their own time. They are never told where to go or when to be there – because really, who could tell that to a snail. However, think about it. The snail’s main concern is finding a water source (and probably to not be eaten by another animal), and it knows that at some point during the day, it will find what it is looking for. Yet until that point, the snail just glides along, taking in its surroundings.

Imagine what that life would be like for a human? Imagine waking up in the morning, sipping a cup of coffee or tea without a care in the world. Then, pretend you have no responsibilities. No chores. No one to answer to. Sounds kind of amazing doesn’t it? Now granted, we can’t be snails all day every day because most of us have jobs, families and outside activities that keep us busy. But for one day … maybe this weekend or a month from now … BE THE SNAIL! Your mental health will thank you for it later on!
